Ask

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There is no such thing as a dumb question! That’s what we have heard for so long in our life. Yet some how in our mind we don’t ask because we don’t want to appear to not know something that we should already know. It’s hard to bring yourself to ask something that is seemingly straight forward but we just cannot comprehend. I have come to find out that there some that are book smart. Some that are common sense smart. There are those that have the ability to have both. However, it never beats asking when you don’t know.

HERE IT IS…

It’s okay to ask God for the answer. It’s okay to ask God to show you what he has for better understanding. It’s okay to ask God to pint you in the right direction. Truth is the one who ask is the one with wisdom. I can think I know because I have so many degrees. I can think I know because I have been through so much. You will never truly know or comprehend until you ask. Don’t be so proud that you don’t ask and end up taking the long way around the question. “Ask and it shall be given unto thee. “

Hearts speak

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:45‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In high school I took a English writing course writing course with one of my favorite teachers. The very first day that we were in class we had an assignment. It was a simple task that was timed. Write the first word that comes to your mind. Then we had to write and expound about that word for 2 minutes. At the end of the year we had to write a one page paper on that one word explaining it in great detail. What he taught us is that the words and thoughts of your mind changes when you know how to write.

HERE IT IS…

What does your mouth say about your heart? What does the words that you use when you speak say about how you feel about things. We always say think before you speak. Right? Which in a sense acts as a filter for those words, or alters the real thoughts that you may have. The truth is if your hurting inside the pain will show. What we first have to do is allow God to deal with what we have internalized which would change how we feel and change how we speak. What you feel in our heart will eventually come out of your mouth.

Fight on

“Fight the good fight for the true faith. Hold tightly to the eternal life to which God has called you, which you have declared so well before many witnesses.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When is the last time you were in a good fight? I’m talking about a back and forth battle? Never had one? When is the last time that you seen one. Either in person or on TV? One thing about seeing a good fight is that both opponents think they can win. All the training and all the work that went into getting ready gives you the confidence that you will come out victorious. You hold on to all that you believe because it is in you. When you fight for something that you believe in there is one way that you want to come out. Victorious.

HERE IT IS…

We fight everyday against things that will try to keep us from following what God has called us to do. Truth is everyday is a good fight and some more than others. Even when it seems we are losing we are actually winning. Even when it seems like we are knocked down we are still standing. Even when it feels like we are about to fall we are being upheld. If you hold tightly to his word and his way he will bless you. Keep fighting the good fight.

True reality

“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Oculus glasses. Virtual reality. All new things to use as technology advances. This new technology has been seen in movies for decades and now it has become a reality. Virtual reality has taken off and it’s only going to get better. They are calling it the Metaverse in which it will be a place that you can go and do all the things that you do here. The virtual part is where you need the glasses. The reality part is still being developed as things grow and places are built. Yet it will be the new reality.

HERE IT IS…

We should have a divine reality and have our sights set in the Jehovahverse. This will take you to a place that you have never seen before. Since we have been made new in Christ we should be able to set our sights on Him. Can you see it. The streets paved with Gold. Can you see it no more sickness or pandemic. Can you see it. All of us singing praises to the most high. In fact we can make it our true reality when Jesus comes to take us with Him.

Use it all

“and thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.”
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭6:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Growing up and even to this day I have always loved the strong man competition. I loved it just on the fact that watching these guys do things that for anyone else would be impossible. Seeing people pull semi trucks. Watching guys pull airplanes. Even seeing guys lift cars. But, it wasn’t off of strength alone. This didn’t come from just working out and doing these things on a whim. These guys made it up in their mind and heart that the things in front of them will move.

HERE IT IS…

What can keep you from God? We already know that just for one of us he will move anything in the way to get to us. We already know that there is no devil in hell that can keep him from us. What will or has been keeping you from God? We have to make up in our minds and heart and use all our strength and everything inside of us to make sure we stay connected to God. Everything in your mind. All of your heart. All of your strength and might. Some stuff may seem like a truck hit you. You may even feel like a plane is in your way. Keep getting to God and he will give you the strength to make it.

Blessed

“Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In Matthew chapter 5:2-12 we see what has been labeled as the beatitudes, Jesus sermon on the Mount. What he displays to us in this section of scripture is what to be and what not to be. Almost reminds you of the famous play write William Shakespearean line, “To be or not to be, that is the question!” It reminds me that we have a choice to make in our lives. God not only talks about who IS blessed because of the things that happen to them for his name sake. He also talks about the people who are doing these things to the people who follow him.

HERE IT IS…

“To be or not to be that is the question!” Which one are you? Which side are you on? Are you the one putting people down? Are you the one mocking people? Are you the one who continues to do more harm than good? Or are you the one to retaliate against those that harm you? The one who lives by the “eye for an eye” statement? Truth is the beatitudes are expressing the truth of what happens to those who experience those things.

“Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Push, Pull, Drag

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬
Pastor Jamal Bryant made a detailed observation about the cross that Jesus carried through the city. He said, “The cross that Jesus carried through the city was weighed 300 pounds.” Can you imagine carrying a cross that is not only in your shoulder but also dragging through the street? So not only did he carry the cross but he dragged the cross. Some would say through the physics of it that it slowed him down more because of all the different things his body was going through. Pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, dragging. Yet, he did not fall.

HERE IT IS…

We make the statement of comparison to others situation in these words, “I hope that no one has to go through what I went through.” Truth is there is always someone in a worse position than you and there is always someone wondering how you made it. The things that your facing, in, starting or coming out of didn’t break you. The weight of your life would have taken some out, but because of who and what’s in you God would not allow that to happen. He did it so that you would be able to share just how great the God you serve is. Pull, push, drag, lift, or carrying your going to make it.

Acceptable

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭19:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

When I was a child I remember our family having all sitting around and talking right before we had to go some where. Our parents were talking to us about cussing. I had to be about 7 when this happen. They were talking to us about the music we listened to and how it affects us and how there is no need for it. Some how they went around asking if we cussed. I think everyone said no except for my brother, they came to me and everyone looking at me and I said “sometimes when I’m mad.” Everyone busted out laughing and they were told to go to the car while I was inside receiving a separate lecture about cussing.

HERE IT IS…

What you say out of your mouth, is it acceptable to God? What you hold in your heart, is it acceptable to God? Do you think what you say, how you say it, who you say it about would be accepted by God? The things that we hold in our heart and the things we keep to ourselves and harbor for days, weeks, months and years builds up and may cause you issues later. Is it acceptable in his sight? Power of life and death is in the tongue. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s someone else’s funeral. It could be your own. Is it acceptable?
