Keep on keeping on

“This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

There was a young lady at our church when I was a kid by the name of Mrs. Alfred who used a statement of encouragement that said, “Keep in Keeping on.” This statement when she said it was just something that I thought she just used. As I got older and things got hard it stuck with me. Keep in keeping on. This requires movement and requires you to push yourself past what you think you have because God has you covered.

HERE IT IS…

The scripture tells us to WALK in the spirit, which requires us to move. You have to keep walking in the spirit and your flesh won’t have the ability to fulfill itself. This is your encouragement for today. Keep on keeping on. Don’t stop. Don’t give up. Keep walking. Keep praying. Keep reaching. Keep going. If you keep going your flesh will have to obey the spirit. Keep on keeping on!

Word!

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Do you hear it? Listen closer. Listening is something that we say is fundamental, however, it’s hard to hear with distractions around. It’s funny when we talk about distractions. I heard someone say that when we ask God to remove distractions we get mad at what he removes. So then we hold on to the things we like and not the word of God. It’s like having a deep conversation with someone and trying to hears them while at a party. At some point you will have to leave from the noisy area to hear them.

HEAR IT IS…

Lord help me to increase my faith! God sends a word for you to hear and listen too and we miss our opportunity for increase because we are looking for God to “give” us instead of us receiving a word to draws to the word to increase our faith through the word. Ok, maybe you missed it. It’s the word that increases your faith not the stuff. But in order to get the stuff you have to receive the word. Follow his word. And give him your word, YES!

The change

“But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I grew up knowing about God. I mean I grew up where we were taken to church and we were put into different ministries. I grew up where the choice was not given to you to go to church, and when you were out you were identified as one of two things. As your parents child or by the church you went to. As I grew up I started to realize why I was always in church. I started to understand more about Jesus. I started to develop my own prayer life.

HERE IT IS…

Look back over some pictures from your past and I can guarantee that you will remember, where you were mentally and spiritually in Christ. As you look through more pics you will start to see a change in yourself and your relationship with Him. Once you made the decision to believe him and accepted Him fully in your life you can see a difference in the pictures. You can see how his hand and glory over your life because of what you believed and knew about him!

Power

“For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭41:13‬ ‭KJV‬‬

In the sport of boxing they always say that fighting a southpaw is dangerous. A person that fights southpaw means that they’re power hand is the left hand. It’s dangerous because it’s hard to tell where the left hand is coming from. They have an awkward ability to use that power punch from different angles that a person who fights standard or right handed doesn’t have.

HERE IT IS…

Sometimes it may feel like the enemy is fighting southpaw. Sometimes it feels like even when you keep your guard up that he is able to sneak in a power punch and still land it to where it hurts you. Even in the midst of that God has my right hand. God still gives me power to land a power punch of my own with his power. No matter what angle the enemy tries to come at you know that your punch is a lot stronger and faster because of who has you in his hand and who is also holding your hand.

That boy good

“For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; And his truth endureth to all generations.”

One of my favorite movies (the favorite) is Coming To America. One of my favorite scenes has to be when the were at the rally and Mr. RANDY Watson was coming to the stage and being introduced by Rev. Brown and the barber says with excitement “That boy good”. He was excited to see his favorite singer. He would not allow anyone else to tell him other wise.

HERE IT IS…

What’s your excitement about God. When you think of him do you smile? Do you clap? Do you yell? Or do you just sit there and not move or rejoice? I am not sure about you but my God has been better than good. My God has been better to me than I have been to myself. When I think of his goodness and all he has done for me all I can say is My Gods good and no one can talk me otherwise.

Keep knocking

“For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“You have not because you ask not” is what the word says! Truth is some of ask for it but don’t want to do the work to receive what it is they are asking for. God do this for me. God send this to me. God I want that. We say this and we get up without instructions on what to do to get it. It all requires effort on our part. Please don’t misunderstand me in this. God is a God that will drop things in your lap that you didn’t even ask for. But we can’t stop at the question.

HERE IT IS…

Ask for it l, that’s just the start of it. Jesus then instructs is to go looking for it. You don’t ask God to bless you with a house without going to look at different houses. Ask, go look. Then you have to knock. You have to go and present yourself to it. The saying is true if it’s for you it’s for you but you may not receive after the first knock. Sometimes I believe God wants to see if we will knock and allow discouragement to set in or people tell you it’s not going to happen and you walk away from the door. Keep knocking and stand still at the right door. He will answer.

Fear

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: And the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭9:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Fear is something that is often looked at as being afraid of something or someone. The word fear has other synonyms like, terror, fright, horror. We often take that as if we should be scared of God. In a sense we should be and for good reason. It’s not in the reference to a bully or a man. Our fear of the Lord has everything to do with reverence and awe of him. When you are able to move past that direction of fear we would be able to see how God really wants us to see him.

HERE IT IS…

With fear comes wisdom. How? When you are in awe or reverence or fear God you start to want to know more. Who, what, where, why are the questions that should come up. When you inquire about God he gives you the wisdom and a view into who he is. We will never be able to understand him in our finite minds, however he will allow us to move closer to him to have a relationship with him and provide us wisdom to trust and believe in him like nothing else.

Guard your heart

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You ever experienced or dealt with someone that seem to be mad all the time? Every morning that they wake up they seem to be completely unhappy and down? Like the world around them are crumbling and they are the only ones that can see it? Sometimes the affect of other people can and will rub off on you. You can have a great day but if your around the aforementioned person there perspective off the day can start to put a damper on your day.

HERE IT IS…

Guard your happiness. Guard your attitude. Guard your mind. Guard your thoughts. Guard your heart and what’s in it. Things may try to seep into your moment or day or heart. It can change the way you feel and quickly. You have to make a conscious effort everyday and make up in your mind that no matter how others are feeling today it will not affect me because I know who has woken me up this morning. Guard your heart so that the things of the world don’t change who you are.

4 things

Psalms 139:23-24
Search me and know my heart. Try me and know my thoughts. If there be any wicked within me, lead me everlasting. (Paraphrased)
I love these verses of psalms. The way I learned it was because my father Willie Berry Sr. Would say it every time before he preached. But I didn’t ever take a deeper look into it until a couple of years ago. What I discovered is a request from God that we should be able to ask him daily in order to make us stronger and wiser. This short request marks the beginning and the end of whatever hell you have in your life.

HERE IT IS…

First thing he asked God to do was to

1. Search me
2. Try me
3. See or look inside me
4. Lead me
   He asked God to search him first before he did anything else. God knows us better than anyone so he would know where to look for stuff we thought we had hid from him
   Then he asked him to try him. Don’t get mad if you run into to the same situations because that means that you have not yet passed that season of your life.
   Look in side me. Take a deeper look to see if I have something apart or attached or I am holding on to that is not in your will.
   When you do that I want you to lead me in your way everlasting. Which means if he is going to lead me then what ever you found has to come out of me.
   I am not try to preach to you on FB but just simply pray this request of God and watch how he starts to reveal things and open your spiritual eyes to things you would never see before.

Look at God

“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭12:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“Look at God?!” Something we say in response to some one giving a testimony or as truth. It can be in question form or a statement. That word behold is just another way as to say look or to see. To grab your attention. As if to say come here and see, or look at God. It’s a statement of overcoming of something that once hindered. This is what God will do in your life. He will use what has plagued you and stopped you once before to show you and everyone else that He can and will do it.

HERE IT IS…
